First Divinity: Original Sin became a surprise for veterans of the role. The developers created a role -playing game with a capital letter. Smart, deep, inhumanly variable and exciting. And releasing her Enhanced Edition, studio Larian with her own hands lifted the bar of expectations from the sequel to unattainable heights.
Usually excessive hype around the project does not bring to good. Nose Divinity: Original Sin 2 A unique situation came out – it is worthy of even more hype than the one that is already raging on the Internet.

The developers laid out a forty -hour prologue D: OS 2 to early access a year ago. Therefore, we decided that it was worth going through at least another act before releasing this text. For extreme twenty hours, having got out of Fort Joy Island, we spent the same amount in the next location and realized that before the end of the act is still like … to the moon. On foot. But there are already enough impressions to make at least a preliminary opinion about the game. True, we will put the assessment no earlier than the full passage-wait for a full-fledged review in a hundred or two hours.
In forty hours on the picturesque expanses of Rivellon, we saw hardly a hundredth of what D: OS 2 is preparing for adventurers. Heroes and villains, victories and defeats, gods and demons – the game has incorporated the incredible volume of tropes, situations and fantasy plots. Larian worked on fame on the quality of literary texts – Achilles fifth of the previous project.
To set the tone for events, sometimes only one scene is enough.
In the first part, the plot was “for a checkmark” to somehow connect the scriptwriters' ideas. The theories of the conspiracy, the pantheon of the gods, the scattered elements of mythology and the dialogs with references to Robert Jordan and Terry Pratchett – all this was thrown into one boiler and mixed. Varev turned out for every taste, but not a single component lured it on its own. Both the plot and the Sopartians suffered from this – they did not cause sympathy and poorly influenced the events.
Original Sin 2, on the contrary, approaches the matter very thoroughly. From the very beginning, the scriptwriters allow to realize the seriousness of events and quickly cause the player sympathy for new wards. And the hunting for information is now even more attractive than hunting for loot.
History also contrasts with the plot of the first part. A thousand years ago (just so much time has passed in the world of the game) we were hunters for the source. Now we are the magicians of the source, a piece of the same abstract legion of evil, which does not think for a day without intrigues to all the civilized light. We used to chase witches and destroyed demons – it's time to look at the back of the medal.
The first one who spoke with the character, I will be, is the human skull. Ah, irony ..
In the entry on the prison ship, we first see future associates. Here is the arrogant red prince sneeze the cook for the fact that food does not meet his aristocratic standards. Here is the necromancer Fayne devouring an encyclopedia about human gods. But the elf of Sibille guesses on the bones.
If you do not want to create a separate character, at the beginning of the game you can choose one of the companions as your alter ego. They will even tell about themselves in a short scene.
The developers gave the identity and a small story to every inhabitant of this world – from a prisoner to the ship's rat. Moreover, the game masterfully works with the tone of the narrative. She manages to joke equally well and create a gloomy, frankly uncomfortable situation. It forces you to empathize with both right and guilty. Yes, magicians of the source are really dangerous and able to destroy the world, but some simply work as healers and do not deserve troubles that have fallen to their lot. Yes, masters are fanatical extremists led by blind faith. But they are still sincerely confident in their rightness, and one cannot but agree with their arguments. And they also have aspirations, dreams, families and children.
Who is “evil” from all this cohort, and who is “good”? Who to believe? Everyone will not work, so you will think several times about each solution. The consequences cannot be avoided in any case – sometimes inconspicuous, but significant.
The tail sticking out of the impeccable mask does not interfere with stealth at all. The usual thing. This is probably a male barrel.
In addition, Larian gave all the characters of the voice. Surprisingly, despite the fact that the game has more than a thousand NPCs, we have never met inappropriate or weak acting. In a word, in the Original Sin 2 you can play not only for the sake of the magnificent battleship and the world – the plot part now does not lag behind.
What is this game, where there are sailboats, but there are no boarding? This time, however, they will take you on board.
A sea of possibilities
Fight and explore locations in D: OS 2, perhaps, even more interesting than before. The diverse and thoughtful Ooriginal Sin battleship, tied to the use of the environment, has not changed, but it became more beautiful and neater than. The calculation and spending of the glasses of actions were simplified, and the effects of spells, on the contrary, became more complicated. The system of characteristics is now not so strict, but each skill gives unique bonuses. Say, each point invested in the skill of huntsmen increases damage when shooting from a height.
You can’t say right away, but the screen has a difficult tactical situation. One wrong step – and arrived.
And the new chips, which in the game campaign were just additional goals, work so cool that the soul rejoices. First of all – new races: lizards, elves, gnomes and undead. We will talk more about each in the review, but for now, we will only say that the choice of race seriously affects the gameplay. The elf, the gnome, and, for example, the lizards were different not only combat mechanics, but also social interactions. And lovers of non-standard situations will like the opportunity to win back the skeleton (or even a rath skeleton). Commoners are not in the frets with the living dead: you need to hide your face and limbs and pretend to be a living person (well, or who were you there during your lifetime – you can play for the skeleton of any race). And also treat poisons and open locks with your own bones.
A ghostly bull, which is chewing ghostly grass, can give out no less valuable information than the city herald.
Old schools of skills have acquired new or converted skills, and new ones are played cool and bring a highlight in the already good battles. Necromancy replaced the niche school of witchcraft – and do not say that you never wanted to cause bloody rain with a click of fingers or turn the corpses of rivals into bombs. There was also a call school for lovers of Pokémon, which is entirely dedicated to the call and the constant improvement of various families. The school of transformation was added: grow wings, horns, spider paws or turn enemies into chicken. In extreme cases, you can beat the muzzles with a tentacle grown from your own hand.
Now add existing to new spells and imagine what a scope for stupid, Mantic, memorial and simply effective builds we have. Just keep in mind that artificial intelligence plays according to the same rules: the enemies are not at all embarrassed to surprise with ligaments of skills even on the average complexity of the “classic”.
To the delight of the fans of the hardcore battles Original Sin 2 requires filigree tactics and the ability to wrap https://nongamstop-casino.co.uk/ any trifle in your favor. Some fights often seem impossible. Until the first five or seven lesions: until you find a slack on which you can carefully press. And if you need a call, increase the level of complexity to the "tactics". Our first impressions of Divinity: Original Sin 2, as we expected, strictly positive. Forty hours are a break in time even by the standards of AAA projects, and we barely got out of the prologue! And wherever you look, Larian just improved everything. Very soon we will figure out the intricacies of traveling along Rivellon, we will go through the plot (at least once), we will explore other modes – and we will roll out a full -fledged review. We are even a little enviable: you have the whole game yet to come!
